Blockchain Technology

The emerging new blockchain technology is transforming the global banking, financial services and insurance sectors dramatically. Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and a host of other altcoins have emerged as a new digital asset class as well as a medium of exchange. Several central banks across the world are in the process of developing Central Bank Digital Currencies. Blockchain-based decentralized platforms have emerged in the areas of lending and borrowing, international payments, and insurance and are in the process of transforming global banking and financial services.

Cryptocurrencies

The program will cover cryptocurrencies, cryptocurrency trading including derivatives, crypto ETFs and other investment vehicles in the digital assets market.

Decentralized Finance

We will discuss the applications of blockchain technology in decentralized finance, particularly borrowing and lending platforms, decentralized exchanges (DEXs) including derivatives platforms, decentralized payment mechanisms, yield farming, and insurance.

Module I: Fundamentals of Blockchains (2 hours)

Session 1:

Introduction to blockchain technology, properties of blockchains, underlying technologies, origin, different generations of blockchains- the Bitcoin blockchain and Ethereum blockchain, other Layer 1 protocols

Session 2:

Consensus mechanisms (proof of work and proof of stake and others), Layer2 solutions, interoperability of blockchains, broad applications of blockchains

Module II: Cryptocurrencies Basics (3 hours)

Session I:

Introduction to digital assets, Bitcoin, Ethereum, other altcoins and tokenomics

Session II:

Crypto trading, centralized exchanges, crypto derivatives, cryptocurrency regulations, Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs)

Module III: Decentralized Finance: Blockchain-based banking and financial services applications (3 hours)

Session I:

Introduction to decentralized finance, concepts of distributed, centralized, and decentralized applications

Session II:

Blockchain applications in banking and financial services, lending and borrowing protocols, payments and international transfers, no-loss lottery, prediction markets, decentralized exchanges, derivatives trading, and insurance.

Assessment and Certification

Every participant who is present for 90% of the classes will get a Certificate of Participation. And participants who pass the multiple-choice, online, final test with 50% marks, will earn a Certificate of Completion.
